Course overview:

This course will explore Osteopathy's principles of Wholeness in view of the latest research of the Microbiome-Gut-Brain axis (MGBA) and the effect on behavior and the immune system.

The human gut harbors the microbiome, a diverse and complex ecosystem of micro-organisms/microbiota and their genes, that normally assemble during the first years of postnatal life. This microcosm within us and on us, is a dynamic process that has been shown to contribute to the developmental programming of epithelial barrier function, gut homeostasis, and angiogenesis, as well as the development and function of the immune system and modulation of brain development and behaviour.

This course will present:

  • Clinical application of the Microbiome Gut-Brain-Axis:
the bi-directional interactions between the CNS, the enteric nervous system (ENS), the gastrointestinal tract and microbiota diversity.
  • Fluid body and ENS
  • Functional reserve and allostasis- adaptability for coordinated neural, intestinal, absorptive and immunologic functions for continued growth and development.
  • Biodynamic principles of treatment will be explored in practical sessions, witnessing the clinical benefit of the therapeutic power of seams, the spatial organization, Midline and the Wholeness of the Health.
  • Mesenteric seams, thoraco-abdominal seam and lymphatic drainage
  • Nutritive function of Primary Respiration and Wholeness
