Course overview:

This course is designed for osteopaths to safely and effectively treat a child as a whole. 
It will further explore osteopathic principles of treatment through studying the embryological development and clinical significance of periosteal dura, meningeal dura, CNS and ventricular system in a child. Osteopathic management of a child with Down’s syndrome.
Childhood teething and associated symptoms will also be explored. 

By the end of the course, the osteopath will be able to:

  • Develop perceptual skills to distinguish between periosteal dura, meningeal dura and CNS in a child and then utilize the therapeutic forces appropriately for treatment.
  • Assess the teething sequence, differential diagnosis between teething and acute otitis media, understand the neurobiological basis of low grade fever and the neuro-endocrine-immune connection to the 3rd ventricle.
  • Evaluate spatial orientation of craniometrics and its therapeutics in management of children with Down Syndrome.

This course is a residential course held within the beauty of 30 acres of natural bush land overlooking the coastline of the Coromandel Peninsula, with many varied and beautiful walks.

 

Accommodation and meals:

This is a residential course with all participants staying at Mana.
Accommodation, payable to Mana Retreat, costs are extra to course fee and can be booked online with Mana Retreat Centre
